Korea Issues Guidelines for Submission of Interim Standards for Food Ingredients

On 18 August 2023, the Ministry of Food and Drug Administration (MFDA) of Korea issued guidelines for the submission of provisional standards for food ingredients, which will be implemented from the date of issuance. Main contents:

 

1.Scope. Applicable to the first time into Japan, processing and production of new agricultural products, livestock products, aquatic products, extraction, concentration and isolation of do biology and other raw materials to be used as food; does not include: raw materials with medicinal effects, minerals, herbs and their products, and other substances that may cause harm to the human body;

 

2. Application materials. Application form: food ingredients, complete data materials in Korean, relevant literature, commercial standards, product requirements, testing methods and testing reagents and instruments, etc.; the number of samples is 5, each 100-500g;

 

3. Mode of application. Submission of relevant electronic materials on the website of the Ministry of Food and Drugs of Korea;

 

4.Procedure of review. Technical review, development of provisional standards; additional materials, change of specific requirements for application.
